130 million Americans will experience a Qualifying Event this year and may be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). Some of these events may include:

  • Became a new parent: 1 million births, adoptions, and other dependent status changes are expected this year
  • New hires and retirees:3 million people will start a new job this year, while another 52.2 million will be laid off, fired, or leave their jobs voluntarily
  • Newlyweds: more than two million will wed this year
  • Those on the move: the average American moves 11.4 times during his or her lifetime and when they do, many have to change their health coverage
